As Australia’s leading provider of Vocational Education and Training (VET), Technical and Further Education New South Wales (TAFE NSW) is committed to providing high-quality education to over 500,000 students in New South Wales. With the pandemic highlighting the crucial role that VET-prepared jobs play in our economies, TAFE NSW decided to take its education to the next level by creating a world-class, digitally enabled campus for its staff and students.

To achieve this vision, TAFE NSW turned to Poly, a trusted partner in delivering innovative, technologically advanced learning experiences. In this blog post, we will take a closer look at TAFE NSW’s Connected Learning Points (CLC) and how Poly’s technology is helping to transform the future of education.

Revolutionising Connected Learning with Technology

CLCs are custom-designed learning spaces that use modern, digitally enabled technologies such as simulations and virtual reality experiences to offer a wider range of practical, flexible, and accessible learning opportunities to students and employers across regional NSW. With the goal of creating a face-to-face level of engagement in a virtual setting, TAFE NSW chose to partner with Poly and reseller Precision Industries to implement its CLCs.

“These amazing companies were able to create ground-breaking solutions to ensure that the quality product was delivered to meet the needs of students, teachers, industry and communities,” says Matt McAllister, Educational Team Leader, Hospitality, Tourism & Personal Services.

“We chose Poly because in our offices we compared a number of market-leading brands. The Poly Room Kit for Microsoft Teams performed the best with their environment. We paired it up with Poly+ Support Services which makes sure there’s 24/7 call support. It also had the best features to suit TAFE’s needs,” says Feraaz Abrahams, Precision Industries General Manager of Operations.

The Poly Studio Room Kits for Microsoft Teams Rooms, paired with Poly+ 24/7 support, offered TAFE NSW a scalable, adaptable, and interoperable solution that was compatible with Microsoft Teams. With Poly’s innovative features such as group framing, automatic speaker tracking, and NoiseBlockAI technology, students and teachers can enjoy a seamless and immersive learning experience.

The connected learning points are equipped with multiple cameras, high-quality sound, and a microphone that can pick up the teacher from anywhere in the room. Large screens enable teachers to keep a connection with students on one screen while sharing teaching and learning resources on the other, meanwhile students receive a professional and engaging learning experience.

The Campus of the Future

With its 200 Connected Learning Points, TAFE NSW is leading the way in the future of education. The technology used in these spaces is just the beginning of TAFE NSW’s strategy to provide access to quality VET education to students no matter where they live in NSW.

“What was once considered impossible to deliver virtually is now possible at TAFE NSW. We’re setting new boundaries through the innovative design of our specialist Connected Learning Points. Our students can join these virtual sessions from another TAFE campus from their workplace or even from their home depending on the delivery,” says Alli Poole, Senior Manager for Specialist Learning Spaces.

“The future of education is happening right now at TAFE NSW,” says Matt. With the opportunity to enhance their delivery and collaborate with teachers and industry across the state, TAFE NSW is poised to continue shaping the future of VET education.

Ultimately, TAFE NSW’s Connected Learning Points are revolutionizing the way students and teachers experience learning, bringing a new level of accessibility, flexibility, and engagement to vocational education and training. With Poly’s innovative technology and 24/7 support, TAFE NSW is poised to continue leading the way in the future of education.
